Human trafficking remains a critical issue impacting communities across North Carolina, and lodging establishments play an important role in prevention and response. NCRLA encourages members to stay informed about state training requirements and available resources administered by the North Carolina Department of Labor.
North Carolina law requires human trafficking awareness training for certain lodging employees, including those who perform housekeeping services, provide food and beverage services, or conduct guest check-in or check-out duties. The requirement does not apply to all lodging employees or all third-party contractors.

“As an industry uniquely positioned to recognize and report human trafficking, it is crucial that we empower all of our employees to take action when they suspect a problem. The NCDOL Resources and Training gives members free, ongoing access to a toolkit designed to equip everyone working in the hotel industry with what they need to know to help keep our establishments and communities safe.”
–Allen Thomas, President & CEO, NCRLA
