NCRLA’s Chef Showdown, presented by Got to be NC, is THE can’t-miss culinary competition of the year. The application process is now open for chefs and distilleries across the state to apply to compete for the coveted title of NCRLA Chef of the Year, NCRLA Pastry Chef of the Year and NCRLA Mixologist of the Year.
New in 2018, culinary competitors will compete regionally prior to the main event. The three regions represent the eastern, western and central talent within North Carolina. The regional semi-finals will be held in: New Bern, May 22, at Lawson’s Landing Cafe; Hickory, June 4, at Highland Avenue; and Raleigh, June 25, at Vidrio.
The 21 highest-rated chef and pastry chef competitors will move forward to compete in the final competition on Aug. 27, in Charlotte, following the first day of the North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Expo.
Competitors will be judged on the presentation and taste of their dish, as well as the best use of local North Carolina ingredients on each plate.
Back by popular demand, the final competition will feature six North Carolina distilleries partnered with six top-shelf mixologists to stir up excitement and compete for the NCRLA Mixologist of the Year award.
Apply to compete today! Application period closes Friday, May 4.
