NCRLA Partnering with Firehouse Subs and Mecklenburg County Public Health to Support Local Vaccine Event for Griers Grove Area Residents

Charlotte, NC – (August 2, 2021) – The North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association is partnering with Mecklenburg County Public Health and Firehouse Subs in Charlotte to offer a free meal to those who get COVID-19 vaccinations at a Charlotte area National Night Out event for Griers Grove residents on Tuesday, Aug. 3. The first 100 people to get a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the event will get a gift card for a free meal at local area Firehouse Subs locations.

“We want to do all we can to support our local communities and the restaurant and lodging industry across the state,” said NCRLA President and CEO Lynn Minges. “We are thankful that Firehouse Subs, Mecklenburg County Public Health, and the Griers Grove HOA are working together to help people get vaccinated.”

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

“Giving back to our community is at the heart of what we do each day,” said Firehouse Subs franchisee Tim Goss. “We take great pride in feeding and supporting our Mecklenburg County guests and look forward to more opportunities to do so this year.”

“We appreciate the support from the local area restaurants and the North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association,” said Mecklenburg County Public Health Director Gibbie Harris. “We encourage all eligible residents ages 12 and older to get a COVID-19 vaccination.”

In addition to the donation of gift cards from Firehouse Subs, the Griers Grove Community Homeowners Association is providing other entertainment and activities for their HOA members. Residents can get vaccines from 6 to 8 p.m.

Eligible individuals can walk up for a vaccination at the National Night Out event. MCPH will be offering the Pfizer-BioNTech (both first and second doses) and Johnson & Johnson vaccine at this event.
