Statement Regarding Passage of S.B. 24

Statement from Lynn Minges, President & CEO of the North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association, on Senate Bill 24

“The North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association applauds the North Carolina Senate’s approval of S.B. 24—the ‘Grill Bill’—today. Our association gives thanks to Sens. Tom McInnis (R-Richmond), Jeff Tarte (R-Mecklenburg) and Jim Davis (R-Macon) for sponsoring this common sense measure, and to House Speaker Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) for backing the bill.

NCRLA has strongly supported this bill, as it will be very beneficial to foodservice establishments. It will allow the state’s restaurants and hotels to use outdoor grills to better serve their patrons, especially during the approaching summer months. Our members, and in turn their customers, will benefit from the added flexibility to grow their services while lowering overhead costs.

We encourage Gov. Cooper to sign the bill into law in time for Memorial Day weekend celebrations.”
