North Carolina laws allow for an alcohol vendor (bar, restaurant, etc.) to be held liable for damages caused by over-served individuals–whether they are underage or not.
If an over-served individual leaves your establishment and causes harm to himself or others, do you have policies in place that help or hurt you? Is your staff properly trained on responsible alcoholic service? Are they aware of the potential legal consequences if a drunk patron is involved in an accident after leaving your establishment? As an employee, do you understand how you can be held liable for serving that next drink to a person who is clearly intoxicated?
