North Carolina restaurants and hotels provide jobs for more than 550,000 of our state’s citizens, which comprises 11% of our state’s workforce. The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in catastrophic losses for these businesses and their workers, and the NCRLA Foundation worked quickly to provide support and resources to our workforce. The NCRLA Foundation sees the need to continue to support our workforce through the NC Hospitality Workers Relief Fund for financial emergencies due to unforeseen hardships, not just related to COVID-19.
The NC Hospitality Workers Relief Fund is managed through the NCRLA Foundation, a 501c(3) that has provided financial assistance to hospitality employees and students for more than a decade.
Who Can Apply
Any restaurant, hotel, tavern, or hospitality-related business in good standing can submit a recommendation for financial assistance for any employee in need at any time. The employee must be a resident of NC and must have been employed for at least 90 days by the company making the request.
The owner/operator/manager of the hospitality business should submit the request through this form. The required information is:

- Detailed description of the need for assistance – reason and amount
Each application is eligible for up to $1,000 in one-time assistance.
The NCRLA Foundation is governed by a board of trustees who lead the foundation and guide its work. This foundation will appoint a committee to review and approve/deny applications based on the following criteria: level of need and employment standing.
Once the committee makes the determination, a confirmation notice will be sent to the employer making the request on behalf of their employee. A notification letter along with an assistance check will be mailed to the address provided on the application.
The goal of the NC Hospitality Workers Relief Fund is to provide immediate financial assistance to our industry’s dedicated workers in the face of hardship.
The North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association (NCRLA) is a 74-year-old organization that advocates and provides support for the NC hospitality industry, which generates $27.3 billion in sales to support the state’s economy and employs 11% of the state’s workforce.
The NC Hospitality Workers Relief Fund is run through NCRLA’s long-standing, well established 501c(3) philanthropic organization, NCRLA Foundation.
