SUMMARY:41-degree Cold Hold Requirement Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association has its finger on the pulse of all health and safety regulation updates and issues. We are proud of our partnership with the state and local health departments\, which allows us to bring members immediate/real-time information on changes and best practices. One of those changes is the 41-degree cold hold requirement. \nIn 2012\, North Carolina adopted the 2009 version of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Code\, implementing a five-year delay on the enforcement of changing the cold holding temperature from 45 degrees to 41 degrees. Effective Jan. 1\, 2019\, ALL North Carolina establishments with a food service permit—restaurants and hotels—must comply with the new cold holding temperature of 41 degrees. Lack of compliance will result in point deductions on an establishment’s health inspection. \nTo give you a better understanding of this change\, Vanessa Bryant\, emergency preparedness and outbreak coordinator\, and Wendy Grijalva\, environmental health regional specialist\, both from the Division of Public Health\, Food Protection and Facilities\, will share what this regulation update means for you and your business and how you can avoid being penalized during your health inspection during a FREE one-hour webinar on May 30\, from 2-3 p.m.

SUMMARY:Navigating New Public Health Regulations for NC Bars Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Attention North Carolina bar owners and operators! Starting March 27\, new health inspection regulations will come into effect\, impacting many bars across the state. To ensure you’re well-prepared and compliant\, NCRLA is hosting a webinar on Monday\, Jan. 29 at 1:30 pm. To register for the webinar\, CLICK HERE. \nThis informative session will feature panelists: \n\nShane Smith\, Public Health Branch Head at NCDHHS\nCarolyn Griffin\, NCRLA’s Specialist in Food Safety and Lodging Regulations\nHardy Lewis\, Attorney with expertise in ABC Law\n\nThe webinar will provide an in-depth review of the new health permit requirements that will affect bars serving food. Additionally\, there will be a Q&A segment for bar owners about regulations pertaining to establishments offering only drink garnishes and unopened commercial snack packages\, which are exempt from these new rules. Context: With the enactment of House Bill 125\, significant changes were introduced\, amending the definition of a bar and impacting health inspection protocols. This followed the removal of the “private bar” requirement by House Bill 768\, leading to a broad classification of bars and exemption from inspections. These upcoming changes mark a significant shift for many bars that have never undergone health inspections. NCRLA is committed to guiding you through these transitions under the new legislative landscape. READ MORE
