Some of the most creative chefs from around North Carolina competed on Aug. 29 at the 2016 North Carolina Chef Showdown, presented by TNC Communications. It was a fast-paced evening with outstanding cuisine, tastings of the finest spirits, wine and beer, and great conversation.

This exciting event was held in conjunction with the North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Expo as an added opportunity for networking while the North Carolina hospitality industry gathered in Raleigh. The North Carolina Chef Showdown featured 12 savory chefs and four pastry chefs from across the state who competed for the titles NCRLA Chef and Pastry Chef of the Year. The showdow also included a mixology challenge.

Savory chefs created innovative small plates/heavy hors d’oeuvres and pastry chefs prepared delectable desserts -- each sampled by all attendees and an exclusive panel of judges.
