The North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association's philanthropic arm, the North Carolina Hospitality Education Foundation (NC HEF) provides a wide variety of scholarships to students.
Founding Partner Scholarships
Golden Corral Scholarship: One award of $4,000 for a rising college junior or senior enrolled in a four-year culinary or hospitality program in North Carolina.
Johnson & Wales University Chancellor's Scholarship: One award of 4,000 for a graduating high school senior planning to enroll at Johnson and Wales Charlotte. Award is renewable and administered by Johnson & Wales.

President's Circle Scholarships
Davidson and Jones Hotel Corporation Scholarship: One award of $1,000 to a college junior enrolled in a four-year culinary or hospitality program in North Carolina.
Mary Margaret Traxler Scholarship: This award honors the late founder of the Greater Charlotte Hospitality News by granting one award of $2,000 for a rising sophomore or junior enrolled in a four-year culinary or hospitality program in North Carolina. 2017 Winner: Nicole Vetti of Roxboro, NC
William F. Carl Scholarship: The William F. Carl Scholarship honors the late co-founder of Golden Corral by granting scholarships to eligible children of hourly employees in the restaurant industry. William F. Carl was a firm believer that the dedication and hard work of hourly workers were the industry's foundation for growth and success. Vickie Clark-Flaherty Scholarship: The Vickie Clark-Flaherty Scholarship honors the late senior product implementation manager at Golden Corral by granting scholarships to women in the foodservice industry. Clark-Flaherty epitomized what it takes to be successful in the foodservice industry: determination, vision, and the highest work ethic. The amount of this award is $2,000.
2017 Winner: Loren Cristina of Winston-Salem, NC
Ted Fowler Scholarship for the Pursuit of Restaurant Excellence: This scholarship honors Golden Corral President and CEO Ted Fowler. It recognizes students who aspire to continue their education in the restaurant and hospitality industry. A scholarship in the amount of $3,500 will be given annually to one graduating high school senior who is a ProStart student, based on eligibility.
2017 Winner: Jordan Fields of Clayton, NC
North Carolina Hospitality Education Foundation Scholarship: The North Carolina Hospitality Education Foundation awards scholarships to students attending two- or four-year schools in North Carolina who are pursuing careers in the hospitality industry. Multiple awards are given each year, and the amounts vary with the minimum award being $750.
2017 Winners: Tyler White of Lenoir and Magenta Fougerat of Mocksville
Jimmy Alfano Scholarship: This scholarship honors Angus Barn employee Jimmy Alfano, who had a passion for culinary arts and mentoring young people. Students eligible for this award need to have worked in a restaurant. The amount of each scholarship award is $3,000.
2017 Winners: Billy Smith of Raleigh, Hannah Moyles of Wake Forest, Ashley Garwatoski of Apex
ProChef Scholarship: This scholarship is given by ProChef USA to honor a current ProStart student or a graduate of the ProStart program. Recipients may attend school in North Carolina or out of state, but must be pursuing a hospitality-related career. The amount of this award is $1,000.
